  1. VIRTUAL FIBER ARTS AND FABRIC DYEING

    Four 2-hour virtual classes. We will explore the many ways of creating art and functional pieces with fabric and other fibers. Students will learn home and eco-friendly dyeing techniques and make small weaving, sewing and embroidery projects. Open to all levels. Students will receive a list of materials they are asked to purchase on their own prior to the start of class. Ages: 16+

  1. Forest Friends Trail at Talley Day Park

    We have created a fun new way to celebrate our favorite magical forest friends this fall. Make a fairy or gnome sized dwelling to place along our Forest Friends Trails at Rockwood or Talley Day Parks! Your creation will be on display for the week of October 11-18 for all to enjoy. By submitting a dwelling you will be entered into a prize drawing. Your dwelling can be made out of any material, be creative! Looking for some dwelling design inspiration? Take a look at the new Happenings Blog Post about Our Magical Friends in Nature. This program is open to all ages. Find the link to rules along with a registration form below. You will have two opportunities contribute to our Forest Friends Trails and to come out and enjoy the dwellings while you read a story with two new Trail Tails. All ages.     Fun 30 minute Hip-Hop inspired math classes presented by certified middle school math teacher Mrs. Finney of Lyrical Math. Classes are taught in an outdoor location at Glasgow Park. Students must wear a mask to class and remain on their provided mats, which will be arranged 6 feet apart.   3. Power of Nature

    The Power of Nature provides in person nature programs for children ages 5-12 (accompanied by a parent or guardian). Using various locations throughout Rockwood Park, the one hour interactive session will provide a variety of nature and standards based science topics utilizing stories, movement and crafts. Weather permitting. Tuesday, 3:30-4:30 p.m. Participants should meet in the courtyard of the Visitor's Entrance. Please bring supplies to include: scissors, pencils, crayons, markers, glue stick, clipboard, and a towel or mat to sit on. Masks are required. Social distancing will be in place.
