CHRISTIANA, Del. – County Executive Tom Gordon and Land Use General Manager Eileen Fogarty would like to cordially invite the public to a county-wide workshop will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. to discuss shaping Future Land Use and the Unified Development Code (UDC).
This workshop is part of New Castle County Land Use’s extensive and ongoing outreach to community stakeholders. It will be held at the Christiana Memorial Fire Hall, 2 East Main Street in Christiana.
The objective of the workshop is to discuss ways to create guiding principles for future development, protect neighborhoods, and bring jobs to New Castle County. Another, equally important goal is to establish genuine and effective communication among developers, community representatives, and review agencies so the entire process is more effective and efficient.
The UDC is being revised to reflect:• A clear vision and expectations for the future• Appropriate zoning categories and development standards for our diverse County• Incentives to capture future jobs• Incentives and guidelines to ensure projects are compatible with and strengthen the community• A transparent, predictable and efficient review and approval processEveryone who lives, works or has an interest in the laws that govern land development in New Castle County is encouraged to attend.
“As with many things, it was time to give the UDC an overhaul, and we could not do that without input from the community,” County Executive Gordon. “Thursday night’s workshop will be an important part of that process.”
