The New Castle County Division of Police in collaboration with the New Castle County Council held a Heroin Alert program Friday, August 22, at William Penn High School.
There, New Castle County Heroin Alert Coordinator Marie Allen gave the audience of about 40 people her powerful and graphic presentation to deter anyone else from becoming a heroin addict in the future.
This drug prevention program illustrates the consequences of drug abuse in our communities. The program is continually updated due to the increase of heroin sales and use in the State of Delaware. Heroin Alert is an excellent way for individuals to educate themselves about the ongoing heroin abuse that is plaguing citizens across the country. Heroin Alert is appropriate for ages 12 and up. The presentation are free of charge.
County Executive Thomas P. Gordon, Chief Administrative Officer David Grimaldi, Public Safety Director Joseph Bryant, Jr., Colonel E.M. Setting and all County Government continue to support the Heroin Alert Program as an educational and preventive effort to stop the horrific devastation that heroin causes to families and communities. We would like to thank New Castle County Councilman George Smiley (District 7) for his assistance in coordinating Friday night’s presentation.
