County Executive Meyer announces special arrangements for last-minute property tax bill pay

New Castle, DE – Today, New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer, along with Chief Financial Officer Michael Smith announced special arrangements for people seeking to make their property tax payments. While the New Castle County Government Center will not be open to the public, a “drive up” environment will be setup where taxpayers are welcomed to “drop off” their payments without having to get out of their vehicle. This service will be offered at the Government Building beginning Monday, September 28th through Friday, October 2nd, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Tax payments must be received by NCC no later than September 30, 2020.

Other payment methods include:

  • Use our third-party vendor, Paymentus, to pay using credit cards, debit cards, or e-check services from your checking account with NO FEE
    • Pay online at www.nccde.org, and click on “Online Tax and Sewer Payments”
    • Pay over the phone by calling 1-877-225-7351
  • Mail payments to PO BOX 782888 Philadelphia, PA  19178-2888; please do NOT mail cash
  • Use your own banking institution to send an electronic payment to New Castle County at PO Box 782888, Philadelphia, PA 19178-2888
  • Use the 24-hour drop box located in the front of the Government Center Building located at 87 Reads Way, New Castle, DE 19720

County residents are reminded to always put their account number on all payment information for it to be applied timely and accurately.

Cash payments will be accepted, however County officials are discouraging cash payments, as change is not available while the building is closed.  Any over payments will be applied to the account as a credit toward future bills.

During the “drop off” environment traffic could be heavy, and you should anticipate long lines.   This is an opportunity for customers to bring their payments to the building, while remaining safe in their cars during the entire experience.

For concerns, taxpayers can call 302-395-5340 and speak to someone in the County’s Treasury department, keeping in mind as we get closer to the September 30th deadline, call volume will increase. Due to the anticipated high call volume Treasury also encourages people to reach out by sending an email to Treasury@newcastlede.gov
