    Pump and Trot Trail & Attitude of Gratitude Trail Looking for an opportunity to work of those extra calories you enjoyed during your Thanksgiving feast? Check out the Pump and Trot Trail at Rockwood. It will provide an opportunity for participants to walk and work out along the paved and lit path beginning in the lower parking lot near the pond. Feel free to bring along your own pair of hand-held weights for the pumping up parts of the trail. If you would prefer a more meditative type of walk check out the Attitude of Gratitude Trail Tale where participants can check out signs that provide opportunities to reflect and count their blessings. The Attitude of Gratitude Trail will begin at the end of the Pump and Trot Trail and continue along the lit, paved path.

    Tree Spree Walk & Sketch at Rockwood Park Now that the leaves have dropped why not focus on the identification, branch structure and the bark texture and design of trees. Horticulture therapist Kathy Andrzejewski and artist Karen Berstler collaborate to offer a nature walk about trees combined with instruction about sketching of trees. Bring your own sketch pad and drawing materials. Although there are some places to sit along the way, you may want to bring a mat or a folding chair or stool for sketching time. Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. This is an outdoor activity and is weather permitting. Tour limited to 10 people. Social distancing will be in practice during the tour. Face masks required. COVID screening form and temperature checks will be completed by Rockwood staff. $5 NCC residents, $10 out-of-county residents.     Family Holiday Sketch at Rockwood Get in the holiday spirt at Rockwood Museum and Park. Horticulture therapist Kathy Andrzejewski leads a walk that focuses on evergreen trees and holiday decorations around the mansion and artist Karen Berstler guides participants in sketching techniques along the way. Bring your own sketch pad and drawing materials. Although there are some places to sit along the way, you may want to bring a mat or a folding chair or stool for sketching time.     Make a Fresh Greens Winter Porch Pot at Rockwood Select a 12" diameter porch pot of your choice - a galvanized bucket, a clay or ceramic flowerpot, or another container of your choice. Also, bring a bag of potting soil to fill the container in addition to a pair of garden shears, wire cutters, and a garden spade to fill container with soil. there will be a materials fee of $20.00, payable to the instructor to cover the cost of fresh materials that will be used to fill the container. A $5.00 in county registration feel, $10.00 out of country registration fee. Participants will work outside and will be required to wear a mask and to social distance.     Twilight Candlelight Holiday Tours at Rockwood What were the holidays like in the 1890’s? Come and get in the holiday spirt at Rockwood Museum and Park. Join in the glow of candlelight and take a step back in time as period dressed museum guides, Loretta Spigel and/or Alice Loveless team up with Horticulture Therapist, Kathy Andrzejewski, to guide guests on a tour that focuses on the history, horticulture, and happenings at the mansion. Tours are weather permitting, so participants are asked to bring their own flashlight, wear comfortable shoes, and dress for the weather because the tour will take place outside on the grounds near the mansion. This is an outdoor activity and is weather permitting. Tour limited to 10 people. Social distancing will be in practice during the tour. Face masks required.     Create a Holiday Wreath at Rockwood Create a beautiful wreath to decorate your home for the holidays and winter months. Participants are asked to bring garden gloves and wire cutters. Meet your instructor, Dena Kirk, in the courtyard of the Visitor's Entrance to Rockwood. Registration fee of $5.00 for in county residents and $10.00 for out of country residents. A materials fee, payable to instructor, of $15.00 if participants provide their own greens, or $20.00 if not providing greens. Participants will work outside and will be required to wear a mask and to social distance.
