Jester Park is a 31-acre open space located off Grubb Road, just south of the Naaman’s Road intersection. New Castle County is currently exploring options for further development of this park.

Project Updates:

July 9, 2021: All of our contractors continue to experience material delivery delays.  The typical lead times have been 6 to 8 weeks, but in some cases, it is as many as 24 weeks.  The projected completion date is now early September. 

Below is the tentative schedule for the Jester House in the coming weeks:

  • Week of 7/19: Roofing and roofing insulation
  • Week of 8/2: Sub-flooring installation
  • Week of 8/9: Interior wall framing
  • Week of 8/12: Window installation
  • Week of 8/19:  Siding installation
  • Week of 8/23:  Painting/Railing
  • Week of 8/23: Shutter installation
  • Week of 8/30: Final inspection
  • Week of 9/1: Final completion

February 25, 2021: Temporary chain-link fencing installation around the farm outbuildings begins

December 15, 2020: Update to the Historical Review Board

October 28, 2020: Notice to proceed on Jester House construction

April 7, 2020: Bid opening for Jester House project

March 18, 2020: The land surveyor consultant, Apex Engineering Inc., is tentatively scheduled to begin the topographic and boundary survey of the Jester Park parcels this Thursday, March 19, 2020 (weather permitting). The survey work will continue intermittently for several days.

March 9, 2020: The proposed work for the exterior of Jester House and the surrounding site is now out for bid. This does not include work to the park itself.

February 18, 2020, 5:00 pm - Historical Review Board meeting to review the proposed parking plan for the Jester House renovations.  The Historic Review Board makes recommendations and delineations for historic district boundaries, maintains a survey of historic properties, and reviews permits relative to historic properties. An informational sign is located at the Jester Park property to notify the public of this meeting as required by the Department of Land Use.
