An easy breezy light version of the
Ice Cream Festival returns to Rockwood Park on June 26!

This pared down, FREE, version of the Ice Cream Festival invites you to bring your picnic lunch, chairs and blankets to relax outdoors at beautiful Rockwood Park as you browse the shops of  First State Flea Market, listen to great live local music, and enjoy great local ice cream and the Wilmington Brew Works Beer Garden. Come out to support small local business and spend some time with your community.

2021 ICF FAQ

DETAILS: The 2021 Ice Cream Festival is a smaller modified event featuring only First State Flea Market, Ice Cream and Dessert Vendors, Live Local Music, and the Wilmington Brew Works Beer Garden with proceeds benefitting the Rockwood Park Preservation Society. They museum will be open for self-guided tours. Not present this year are historic demonstrations, children’s games and activities, food trucks, and fireworks. The Ice Cream Festival will return will all of this and more June 23, 2022.

COVID RULES: Festival guests are asked to follow all current mask and safety guidelines from the state and CDC and to follow any posted rules. Visitor’s are asked to be respectful and remain cautious and vigilant in terms of reasonable social distancing.

PARKING: All parking including handicap parking will be at the Rockwood Office Park at 501 Carr Road, with a quick shuttle to the park. Busses equipped with lifts will be available for visitors with wheelchairs and large strollers.

Shuttle busses will run from 8:45 a.m. with the last shuttle leaving the park at 3:30 p.m.

MASKS are required to ride the shuttle bus whether you are vaccinated or not. 

There will be limited seating on shuttle buses and families will sit together, other guests will be spaced out as appropriate. 

Visitors are discouraged from parking in neighborhoods and along Washington Street Extension. Those who park in these locations are subject to towing at the owner’s expense.

ACCESSIBILITY: The Ice Cream Festival is accessible and will have handicap shuttles running from the Rockwood Office Park, but please know the ground where the event is held is grass that is bumpy and uneven and on a gentle slope. The music meadow is in full sun all day

DOGS AND PETS: Please leave your dog and all other pets at home. This is for the comfort of fellow festival guests and your pets.

COMFORT: Rockwood has hilly, uneven ground and the music meadow is in full sun all day. Please bring your blankets and chairs for your comfort, wear sunscreen, a hat and other sun protection. Be sure your shoes are appropriate for the uneven ground.

FOOD: The 2021 Ice Cream Festival will feature only ice cream and desserts. Festival goers are encouraged to bring a picnic to enjoy while they are at the event.

ALCOHOL: Beer will be available for purchase from the Wilmington Brew Works Beer Garden from 11 am-3 pm. Cups will be $6 with $5 refills. You must be 21 to purchase and consume alcohol. Festival guests who violate this expectation will be dealt with by the New Castle County Police.

SMOKING/TOBACCO: All New Caste County parks are non-smoking. Consumption of tobacco of any kind is prohibited at this event.

BEHAVIOR: All festival guests are expected to treat fellow guests and staff with the utmost respect. Guests who are not able to remain respectful will be removed from the event by the New Castle County Police.

WEAPONS: Weapons of any kind are prohibited in New Castle County Parks. Please leave them at home.

SAFETY: Festival guests are expected to be alert and pay attention to all announcements relating to weather and safety.

INCLEMENT AND SEVERE WEATHER: In the case of bad or severe weather on the day of the event, updates will be posted on the Facebook Event Page, through Eventbrite, Instagram, and Twitter, as well as on our event hotline.
