They were created to provide police presence in communities that require special attention due to crime trends and specific community needs. The heightened police presence they provide the community also fosters greater interaction between the police and the local residents. They can be deployed in specific cases where their capabilites are required or for longer-term service in a community experiencing unusual crime activity. |
