Criminal Investigations Unit Community Services Unit Information & Analysis Unit Criminal Investigation Unit Crisis Negotiation Team Evidence Detection Unit Professional Development Unit K-9 Unit Motorcycle Unit Ordnance Disposal Police Athletic League Special Weapons & Tactics Unit Traffic Services Unit Walking and Bike Patrol Mounted Patrol Unit  Patrol Division   The Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) operates as a component of the New Castle County Police Special Operations -Crisis Management Team along with the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (S.W.A.T.). Each negotiator is selected after an interview process and a psychological exam and a requirement of at least 5 years of service. Team members receive extensive training modeled after the FBI's Negotiation Team, including a 40 hour basic course of instruction as well as crisis management, critical incidents, stress management and lethality instruction. Negotiators operate on a call system, which provides 24 hour coverage in the event a situation arises ranging from suicidal subjects and hostage taking incidents.
