11/19/2009	New Castle Man Breaks into Home and Repeatedly Stabs Dog New Castle County Police have arrested Cecil Wright, a 45 year old male who resides in the unit block of Liborio Lane in the Buena Vista community. Wright has been charged with multiple felony offenses after he broke into a Wilmington apartment complex and repeatedly stabbed the family dog. Read more here.

11/17/2009	Canine Bandit Passed Away It is with regret that we must announce the untimely passing of police canine Bandit, a four year veteran of the police department. Bandit became suddenly ill on Sunday, 11/15 and was immediately hospitalized. During an exam, it was discovered that he had an inoperable brain tumor. Due to the extent of the disease and his poor condition, it was determined the best course of action was to euthanize him. Bandit was put to sleep late Monday afternoon surrounded by his friends and family. He had the opportunity to work Saturday night doing what he loved to do, with the people he loved. Our thoughts are with Bandit’s handler and best friend, Corporal Paul Chickadel. Read more here.

11/17/2009	Mobile Enforcement Team Officers Observe Hand to Hand Drug Transaction New Castle County Police have arrested Jarrell Brown, a 24 year old male who resides in the 300 block of Hanover Way in the Appleby Apartments. He has been charged with felony drug violations after officers observed him complete a hand to hand drug transaction and later found he was in possession of 43 bags of marijuana. Read more here.

11/16/2009	Canine Officer Apprehends Burglary Suspect Canine’s Bark Convinces Surrender New Castle County Police have arrested Matthew Hicken, a 24year old male who resides in the unit block of Worral Drive in Newark. He has been charged with multiple counts of burglary related offenses after a police canine officer arrested him as he fled from a crime scene in the community of Limestone Gardens. Read more here.

11/16/2009	Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Bust New Castle County Police have arrested Leroy Taylor, a 27 year old male who resides in the 100 block of Delaware Drive in the community of Collins Park. He was arrested after officers observed him “rolling a blunt” while sitting in his car with his two year old son. After his arrest, officers found he was in possession of several bags of crack cocaine and $625 in suspected drug proceeds. Read more here.

11/13/2009	Man Dies from Domestic Choke Hold The 43 year old male who was in critically injured during a domestic dispute last week has died at the Christiana Hospital on Wednesday, November 11, 2009. The case has now been classified as a homicide, although no charges have been filed. Read more here.

11/11/2009	Police Shooting, Canine Shot New Castle County Detectives are currently investigating a departmental shooting involving a Wilmington man who shot at a police canine that had been tracking him as a result of a domestic related incident. After the suspect fired upon the canine, he then shot at the assisting officers who returned fire. Read more here.

11/10/2009	Man Points Gun at Tow Truck Driver, Arrested New Castle County Police have arrested Kevin Briddell, a 37 year old male who resides in the 100 block of Colesbery Drive in the community of Penn Acres. He has been charged with weapon related offenses after he pointed a handgun at the “Re-po man” who was in the process of repossessing his car. Read more here.

11/9/2009	Man 43, in Critical Condition after Domestic Altercation with Gun New Castle County Detectives are currently investigating a domestic altercation and shooting that occurred early this morning in the community of Garwood Estates. During the altercation, a male subject pointed a handgun at his stepson and fired a single round, but missed him. The step son was able to disarm and hold him in a “wrestling style” maneuver until his mother could put the gun in a safe place. The step father lost consciousness during the altercation and is currently listed in critical condition at the Christiana Hospital. Read more here.

11/9/2009	Robbery Suspect Disarmed, Shot by Victim New Castle County Detectives are currently investigating an attempted robbery and subsequent shooting that occurred last evening in the community of Holloway Terrace. A 17 year old male, who was armed with a loaded handgun, attempted to rob a 21 old man but was unsuccessful. The victim was able to disarm the teen and shoot him twice during a struggle with the gun. The teen later called 911 and reported he had been shot by an unknown subject. Read more here.

11/5/2009	Sex Offender Charged as Fugitive from Florida New Castle County Police have arrested Walter Dunn, a 44 year old male who resides in the 100 block of Loretta Lane in the community of Caravel Farms. He has been charged as a fugitive from Florida where authorities have arrest warrants on file for “capitol sexual battery” stemming from a sexual assault of a four year old girl. Read more here.

11/3/2009	Teen Charged with Gang Related Stabbing New Castle County Police have arrested Kevin Nunez, a 15 year old male who resides in the 100 block of Halcyon Drive in New Castle, DE. He has been charged with felony assault and weapons offenses after he stabbed a 16 year old male in the abdomen Halloween night in a local apartment complex. Read more here.

11/3/2009	Man Charged with Vehicular Assault, Intentionally Striking Pedestrian New Castle County Police have arrested Craig Augustyniak, a 21 year old male who resides in the unit block of N. Main Street in North East, MD. He has been charged with felony offenses after he intentionally struck a pedestrian with his car during a dispute in Brookside. After striking the male victim with his car, he drove off leaving the injured man on the side of the roadway and failed to call/report the collision. Read more here.

10/31/2009	Women Interrupts Burglary in Progress New Castle County Police are currently investigating the burglary of a Beech Hill residence and theft of over $10,000 in stolen jewelry and electronics. The female victim encountered a male suspect as he was fleeing the home and tried to block his car in her driveway. The male suspect then drove his car across the victim's yard and escaped. 10/30/2009	“Flying Sparks” Leads to Arrest for Attempted Felony Theft New Castle County Police have arrested two suspects for attempting to steal a utility trailer from the parking lot of the Life Community Church in Newark, DE. An alert officer drove passed the church and observed “flying sparks” coming from the side of a trailer and stopped to investigate the light show. The officer was surprised to find a male subject using a “Skilsaw” that was powered by a generator in an attempt to remove a “The Club Tire Claw” from the trailer. Read more here.

10/28/2009	Edward “Bucky” Kirkly Arrested by Safe Streets Officers The New Castle County and Wilmington Safe Streets Teams arrested Edward Kirkly late Tuesday in the City of Wilmington. He has been charged with resisting arrest and nine traffic related offenses after he fled from police on Monday and crashed his car leaving his girlfriend behind. Read more here.

10/26/2009	Canine Locates Drugs in Car During Traffic Stop New Castle County Police have arrested three male subjects for various drug offenses after police stopped their car and found they were in possession of Percocet pills, Vicodin pills, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. A police canine “Monty” searched the car and located the marijuana that had been concealed underneath of the rear passenger seat. Read more here.

10/26/2009	Investigators Release Composite Sketch of Home Invasion Suspect New Castle County Investigators have released a composite sketch of one of two gunmen who forced their way into a Midway Plaza Apartment residence last weekend. Once inside, the two gunmen robbed a total of five men at gunpoint before fleeing the residence with several items of value. Read more here.

10/22/2009	Observant Neighbor Alerts Police of Burglary New Castle County Police are currently investigating a burglary of an unoccupied residence which occurred in the community of Glen Berne Estates during the early morning hours. 10/21/2009	Juvenile Shot During Attempted Robbery New Castle County Detectives are currently investigating a reported attempted robbery and shooting of a 17 year old female in Newark. 10/21/2009	Six Arrested During Prostitution Sting New Castle County Police have arrested six subjects during a community stabilization project which targeted prostitution in a local apartment complex. The project was conducted in the Woodfield and Haverford Place Apartments. Five subjects were arrested for soliciting sex from undercover officers and the other subject was arrested for lewdness. 10/20/2009	Suspect Linked to Three Residential Burglaries Monday Afternoon New Castle County Police have arrested Samuel Reeder, a 24 year old male who resides in the unit block of New Brook Street in Newark, DE. He has been charged with three residential burglaries that he committed yesterday in the Pike Creek area after he was arrested by Probation and Parole Officers and later found to be in possession of a stolen lighter. 10/19/2009	Victims Robbed at Gun Point During Home Invasion New Castle County Police are investigating a home invasion where several victims were accosted at gun point by two subjects as they were walking into an apartment. One subject was holding a handgun while another was holding a shotgun. The victims were ordered to lay face down on the floor of the apartment before the suspects fled the scene. Read more here.

10/16/2009	Man Assaults Victim with Chair, Bites Her Ear, Causes More Than $10,000 in Damage to Residence New Castle County Police have arrested Michael Strouse, a 31 year old male who resides in the 500 block of Sparrow Court in Newark, DE. He has been charged with multiple criminal offenses after he broke into his girlfriend’s home, choked her, struck her with a chair, bit her ear (causing a laceration) and damaged over $10,000 worth of property inside all while in the presence of her two children. 10/16/2009	Police Seized 24 Pounds of Marijuana, Suspect Arrested for Trafficking New Castle County Police have arrested Frank Brandon, a 23 year old male who resides in the 100 block of Highland Blvd in New Castle. Brandon, a recently relocated resident of New York City, has been charged with trafficking marijuana, possession with the intent to deliver marijuana, and maintaining a vehicle for keeping a controlled substance. 10/14/2009	Detectives Investigate Possible Attempted Robbery, 2^nd Case in Eight Days New Castle County Detectives are currently investigating a possible attempted robbery that occurred last evening in the Arbor Pointe Apartments. A female victim was chased from her car by a male assailant who caught up to her while she was ascending her apartment steps. He then attempted to drag her back down the flight of stairs, but was scared off by another male witness. This is the second incident involving a female victim who was accosted by a male suspect in the area over the past eight days. In the first case, a male subject approached a female in a nearby parking lot and pointed a gun at her before stealing her purse. Read more here.

10/13/2009	Fugitive from Pennsylvania Points Gun at Girlfriend, Arrested New Castle County Police have arrested Tyron Combs, a 32 year old male who resides in the unit block of Windmill Lane in the William Penn Village Apartments. He has been charged with felony weapon offenses after he was arrested for pointing a loaded handgun at his girlfriend and threatening to kill her during a domestic dispute. 10/12/2009	Robbery Suspect Arrested after Victims Break his Arm with Baseball Bat New Castle County Police have arrested Michael Wells, a 30 year old male who resides in the 500 block of W. Main Street in Pennsgrove, NJ. He was arrested after he attempted to rob to teenage male victims at gunpoint. The teens (ages 19 and 16) were able to disarm Wells and strike him with a baseball bat while attempting to fend off the attack. Read more here.

10/9/2009	Two Ex-Marines Arrested, Linked to Four Residential Burglaries New Castle County Police have arrested two ex-marines and linked them to four residential burglaries. They have been charged with burglary and drug related offenses. Officers observed the suspect vehicle parked on Old Darley Road at the intersection of West Shelly Drive in the community of Ashbourne Hills. The vehicle was occupied by a female matching the description of one of the subjects involved in the burglaries. While the officers were talking to the female subject, the male subject was observed running from behind a residence in the 700 block of Old Darley Road. The male approached the officers and told them that the vehicle belonged to him. Both suspects have been linked to four residential burglaries within Northern New Castle County. Read more here.

10/6/2009	Two Serial Burglars Arrested, Charged with Winterthur Area Break-ins New Castle County Police have arrested two male subjects and charged them with burglary related offenses after an off duty police lieutenant observed the suspects running through the woods away from a home while wearing gloves. The officer followed the suspects in his personal vehicle and called for patrol units who later stopped the two suspects and recovered stolen goods from the trunk of their car. 10/2/2009	Handgun Pointed at Victims Head During Robbery New Castle County Police are investigating the robbery of a 50 year old male who was accosted at gunpoint by two subjects as he was walking to a friend’s home in Minquadale. 10/2/2009	Wanted Person Leads to Marijuana Grow Operation The New Castle County Safe Streets Team has shut down a clandestine marijuana cultivating operation in the Elmhurst Community late yesterday. Inside the home, police found an elaborate marijuana growing system in the basement complete with metallic sheet walls, high powered lamps, two separate power sources, multiple marijuana plants and several ingredients designed to enhance plant growth. 10/2/2009	Mother’s Home Burglarized By Her Daughter’s Boyfriend New Castle County Police have warrants on file for Brandon Williams, a 19 year old male who resides in the Minquadale Mobile Home Park. He is wanted for burglary related offenses after an attentive neighbor observed two males exit the front door of the victim’s home carrying what appeared to be a DVD player and DVD’s. 10/1/2009	Woman 20, Crashes Into Home with Baby in the Vehicle New Castle County Police are currently investigating a car crash involving a home which occurred on the 100 block of East Violet Drive in the community of Springfields last evening. Shauna Labranche, a 20 year old female, who resides in the unit block of Charles Drive in the same community, suffered minor injuries. 10/1/2009	Armed Robbery, Shooting, Police Pursuit, Suspect Arrested New Castle County Police have arrested Montrail Allen, an 18 year old male who resides in the 1100 block of Pleasant Street in the City of Wilmington. He has been arrested after he robbed a 48 year old male at gunpoint and later fired a gunshot at the victim and his sister as they pursued him in their car. Allen was arrested after the (stolen car he was an occupant of) crashed in the City of Wilmington. His other 2-3 accomplices also fled and were able to escape. Read more here.

9/28/2009	Suspect Yields Knife, During Domestic Related Assault New Castle County Police have warrants on file for Edmond Dejesus, a 25 year old male, who lives at an unknown address in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He has been charged with burglary related offenses, assault and numerous related traffic violations after he led police on a vehicle chase which ended when he crossed over the Delaware/Pennsylvania state line. 9/25/2009	Elderly Female Victimized by Her Cleaning Lady New Castle County Police have warrants on file for Jody Moore, a 40 year old female, whose last known address was in the 1000 block of 7^th Street in Wilmington, DE. 9/25/2009	Detectives Warn of Possible Serial Burglar in Mount Cuba/Winterthur Area For the past few weeks, detectives have investigated a series of residential break-ins in the Wilmington and Yorklyn areas that are similar in nature and may be related. In each case, high value jewelry, electronics, and other valuables have been stolen from the homes. The total loss is estimated to be several thousand dollars. Read more here.

9/25/2009	Shoot Out in the Community of Rosegate New Castle County Detectives are currently investigating a report of multiple gunshots that were fired in front of a residence on the unit block of Revis Avenue in the community of Rosegate. Detectives found evidence at the scene that indicated multiple guns may have been used in this shootout although no injuries have been reported. Read more here.

9/24/2009	Driver Killed in Head-on Crash New Castle County Police are currently investigating a fatal head-on collision that occurred early this morning in the 1700 block of Old Cooches Bridge Road. A 37 year old Newarkman died at the scene of the crash. Read more here.

9/23/2009	Suspect Damages Police Cruiser During a Foot Pursuit New Castle County Police have arrested Stephan Johnson, a 29 year old male who resides in the 2400 block of Newport Gap Pike in Wilmington, DE. 9/16/2009	Woman Charged with Disorderly Conduct, Weapon Offenses New Castle County Police have arrested Keenya Gregory, a 30 year old female who resides in the unit block of N. Rodney Drive in the Edgemoor community. She had been charged with nearly inciting a riot (disorderly conduct), resisting arrest and two counts of carrying a concealed deadly weapon. 9/15/2009	Safe Streets Officers Arrest Fugitive from Elkton, MD The New Castle County Safe Streets Team has arrested Thorton Breece, a 31 year old male who resides in the 700 block of Woodtop Road in Wilmington. He has been charged with felony drug violations and resisting arrest after he ran from the officers who were attempting to arrest him as a fugitive from Maryland. He has been charged with trespassing and resisting arrest when he fled from police after officers discovered he was trespassing in a vacant residence. He has been charged with multiple weapon offenses after he pointed a handgun at another male victim during a domestic dispute. The weapon was later found to have an obliterated serial number. 9/9/2009	Juvenile Home Alone During Occupied Burglary New Castle County Police have arrested Mark Haller, a 57 year old male who resides in the 600 block of Calamia Drive in Norristown, Pennsylvania. He has been charged with burglary related offenses after a 14 year old female, who was home alone at her residence in the Brandywine Hunt community, called 911 after hearing someone within the residence. 9/9/2009	Man Charged with Falsely Reporting an Armed Robbery New Castle County Police have arrested Alphonso Richardson, a 20 year old male who resides in the unit block of Jill Court in the Holly Oak Manor Apartments in Wilmington, DE. Richardson falsely reported an armed robbery because he was living in fear and wanted a police presence in the neighborhood. The dispatcher was able to identify the cell phone number that he was using to call in the robbery. Read more here.

9/7/2009	Five Teens Arrested for Armed Robbery New Castle County Police have arrested five teenage males for robbery related offenses after they held up three male victims last night in the Wilton community. An alert officer later recognized the “get-away” car and arrested all five suspects. The guns used in the crime and the victim’s property were both recovered from the suspect’s car. Read more here.

9/4/2009	Safe Streets Officers Arrest Dominican Man for Trafficking Cocaine New Castle County Safe Streets Officers have arrested Julio Maladonado, a 22 year old male who resides in the 500 block of S. DuPont Highway. He has been charged with felony drug offenses and endangering the welfare of a one year old child who was living in the home where the drugs were kept. Read more here.

9/4/2009	Canine Track Results in Apprehension of Suspect New Castle County Police have arrested Bryan Massello, a 26 year old male who resides in the 400 block of Renee Loop in Bear. He has been charged with criminal mischief and terroristic threatening after a verbal argument turned violent and the suspect started punching holes in the walls of the victim’s residence and then threatened to kill her. After fleeing the residence, he was later apprehended by a police canine. Read more here.

9/3/2009	Adult Male Missing Under Suspicious Circumstances New Castle County Detectives are searching for Adrienne Anderson, a 30 year old male whose last known address is located in the Greentree community in Claymont. 9/3/2009	Disturbed Woman Leads Police on Low Speed Pursuit On Tuesday (9/01) at 2:21 p.m., New Castle County Police responded to the area of Wilson Road at Shipley Road for a report of a suspicious vehicle. The driver later identified as Diane Magyar, a 53 year old female who resides in the 2000 block of Majestic Drive in Wilmington, was reportedly driving in circles and extremely slow in the development of Fairfax. 9/2/2009	Vehicle Stop Leads to Loaded Handgun and Drug Arrest New Castle County Police have arrested Larry Davis, a 22 year old male who resides in the unit block of Rose Lane in New Castle and Hashim Batson, a 22 year old male who resides in the unit block of Thorn Lane in New Castle. They were arrested after officers initiated a car stop and detected an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle and later found them to be in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun. Read More Here.

9/2/2009	Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Crash, Canine Killed New Castle County Police are currently investigating a pedestrian injury crash, which occurred on Carr Road at Woodside Road in the early evening. The 21 year old female pedestrian was admitted to Christiana Medical Center in stable condition. Her canine died as a result of the accident. Read more here.

9/1/2009	Heavily Intoxicated Parents Arrested, Nine Children Endangered New Castle County Police have arrested Daniel Brinsfield, a 36 year old male and Lynn Shuford, a 30 year old female and charged them with nine counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Both subjects, who reside together in the 1500 block of Bartleson Road in Wilmington, were found passed out unable to care for the nine children they were supposed to be responsible for. He has been charged with burglary related offenses after he broke into a Stockdale home and removed nearly $25,000 worth of jewelry, cash and electronics before being apprehended by neighbors.
