| 11/19/2009 | New Castle Man Breaks into Home and Repeatedly Stabs Dog
New Castle County Police have arrested Cecil Wright, a 45 year old male who resides in the unit block of Liborio Lane in the Buena Vista community. Wright has been charged with multiple felony offenses after he broke into a Wilmington apartment complex and repeatedly stabbed the family dog.

| 11/17/2009 | Canine Bandit Passed Away
It is with regret that we must announce the untimely passing of police canine Bandit, a four year veteran of the police department. Bandit became suddenly ill on Sunday, 11/15 and was immediately hospitalized. During an exam, it was discovered that he had an inoperable brain tumor. Due to the extent of the disease and his poor condition, it was determined the best course of action was to euthanize him. Bandit was put to sleep late Monday afternoon surrounded by his friends and family. He had the opportunity to work Saturday night doing what he loved to do, with the people he loved. Our thoughts are with Bandit’s handler and best friend, Corporal Paul Chickadel.

New Castle County Police have arrested Jarrell Brown, a 24 year old male who resides in the 300 block of Hanover Way in the Appleby Apartments. He has been charged with felony drug violations after officers observed him complete a hand to hand drug transaction and later found he was in possession of 43 bags of marijuana.

New Castle County Police have arrested Matthew Hicken, a 24year old male who resides in the unit block of Worral Drive in Newark. He has been charged with multiple counts of burglary related offenses after a police canine officer arrested him as he fled from a crime scene in the community of Limestone Gardens.

| 11/16/2009 | Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Bust
New Castle County Police have arrested Leroy Taylor, a 27 year old male who resides in the 100 block of Delaware Drive in the community of Collins Park. He was arrested after officers observed him “rolling a blunt” while sitting in his car with his two year old son. After his arrest, officers found he was in possession of several bags of crack cocaine and $625 in suspected drug proceeds.

The 43 year old male who was in critically injured during a domestic dispute last week has died at the Christiana Hospital on Wednesday, November 11, 2009. The case has now been classified as a homicide, although no charges have been filed.

New Castle County Detectives are currently investigating a departmental shooting involving a Wilmington man who shot at a police canine that had been tracking him as a result of a domestic related incident. After the suspect fired upon the canine, he then shot at the assisting officers who returned fire.

New Castle County Police have arrested Kevin Briddell, a 37 year old male who resides in the 100 block of Colesbery Drive in the community of Penn Acres. He has been charged with weapon related offenses after he pointed a handgun at the “Re-po man” who was in the process of repossessing his car.

| 11/9/2009 | Man 43, in Critical Condition after Domestic Altercation with Gun
New Castle County Detectives are currently investigating a domestic altercation and shooting that occurred early this morning in the community of Garwood Estates. During the altercation, a male subject pointed a handgun at his stepson and fired a single round, but missed him. The step son was able to disarm and hold him in a “wrestling style” maneuver until his mother could put the gun in a safe place. The step father lost consciousness during the altercation and is currently listed in critical condition at the Christiana Hospital.

| 11/9/2009 | Robbery Suspect Disarmed, Shot by Victim
New Castle County Detectives are currently investigating an attempted robbery and subsequent shooting that occurred last evening in the community of Holloway Terrace. A 17 year old male, who was armed with a loaded handgun, attempted to rob a 21 old man but was unsuccessful. The victim was able to disarm the teen and shoot him twice during a struggle with the gun. The teen later called 911 and reported he had been shot by an unknown subject.

New Castle County Police have arrested two suspects for attempting to steal a utility trailer from the parking lot of the Life Community Church in Newark, DE. An alert officer drove passed the church and observed “flying sparks” coming from the side of a trailer and stopped to investigate the light show. The officer was surprised to find a male subject using a “Skilsaw” that was powered by a generator in an attempt to remove a “The Club Tire Claw” from the trailer.

New Castle County Detectives are currently investigating a possible attempted robbery that occurred last evening in the Arbor Pointe Apartments. A female victim was chased from her car by a male assailant who caught up to her while she was ascending her apartment steps. He then attempted to drag her back down the flight of stairs, but was scared off by another male witness. This is the second incident involving a female victim who was accosted by a male suspect in the area over the past eight days. In the first case, a male subject approached a female in a nearby parking lot and pointed a gun at her before stealing her purse.

New Castle County Police have arrested two ex-marines and linked them to four residential burglaries. They have been charged with burglary and drug related offenses. Officers observed the suspect vehicle parked on Old Darley Road at the intersection of West Shelly Drive in the community of Ashbourne Hills. The vehicle was occupied by a female matching the description of one of the subjects involved in the burglaries. While the officers were talking to the female subject, the male subject was observed running from behind a residence in the 700 block of Old Darley Road. The male approached the officers and told them that the vehicle belonged to him. Both suspects have been linked to four residential burglaries within Northern New Castle County.

New Castle County Police have arrested Montrail Allen, an 18 year old male who resides in the 1100 block of Pleasant Street in the City of Wilmington. He has been arrested after he robbed a 48 year old male at gunpoint and later fired a gunshot at the victim and his sister as they pursued him in their car. Allen was arrested after the (stolen car he was an occupant of) crashed in the City of Wilmington. His other 2-3 accomplices also fled and were able to escape.

New Castle County Police have arrested Dale Turner, a 29 year old male who resides in the 500 block of Blackbird Drive in the Pheasant Lake Townhouses. He has been charged with multiple weapon offenses after he pointed a handgun at another male victim during a domestic dispute. The weapon was later found to have an obliterated serial number.

New Castle County Police have arrested Mark Haller, a 57 year old male who resides in the 600 block of Calamia Drive in Norristown, Pennsylvania. He has been charged with burglary related offenses after a 14 year old female, who was home alone at her residence in the Brandywine Hunt community, called 911 after hearing someone within the residence.

| 9/9/2009 | Man Charged with Falsely Reporting an Armed Robbery
New Castle County Police have arrested Alphonso Richardson, a 20 year old male who resides in the unit block of Jill Court in the Holly Oak Manor Apartments in Wilmington, DE. Richardson falsely reported an armed robbery because he was living in fear and wanted a police presence in the neighborhood. The dispatcher was able to identify the cell phone number that he was using to call in the robbery.

New Castle County Police have arrested five teenage males for robbery related offenses after they held up three male victims last night in the Wilton community. An alert officer later recognized the “get-away” car and arrested all five suspects. The guns used in the crime and the victim’s property were both recovered from the suspect’s car.

New Castle County Safe Streets Officers have arrested Julio Maladonado, a 22 year old male who resides in the 500 block of S. DuPont Highway. He has been charged with felony drug offenses and endangering the welfare of a one year old child who was living in the home where the drugs were kept.

New Castle County Police have arrested Bryan Massello, a 26 year old male who resides in the 400 block of Renee Loop in Bear. He has been charged with criminal mischief and terroristic threatening after a verbal argument turned violent and the suspect started punching holes in the walls of the victim’s residence and then threatened to kill her. After fleeing the residence, he was later apprehended by a police canine.

Disturbed Woman Leads Police on Low Speed Pursuit
On Tuesday (9/01) at 2:21 p.m., New Castle County Police responded to the area of Wilson Road at Shipley Road for a report of a suspicious vehicle. The driver later identified as Diane Magyar, a 53 year old female who resides in the 2000 block of Majestic Drive in Wilmington, was reportedly driving in circles and extremely slow in the development of Fairfax.

New Castle County Police have arrested Larry Davis, a 22 year old male who resides in the unit block of Rose Lane in New Castle and Hashim Batson, a 22 year old male who resides in the unit block of Thorn Lane in New Castle. They were arrested after officers initiated a car stop and detected an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle and later found them to be in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun.

New Castle County Police are currently investigating a pedestrian injury crash, which occurred on Carr Road at Woodside Road in the early evening. The 21 year old female pedestrian was admitted to Christiana Medical Center in stable condition. Her canine died as a result of the accident.

New Castle County Police have arrested Daniel Brinsfield, a 36 year old male and Lynn Shuford, a 30 year old female and charged them with nine counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Both subjects, who reside together in the 1500 block of Bartleson Road in Wilmington, were found passed out unable to care for the nine children they were supposed to be responsible for. The adults and children were found to be living in squalid living conditions.
