Operation Smack Down Nets Forty-Two Suspects

An investigation into the distribution of illegal drugs and acts of violence in New Castle County led to the arrest of forty-two men and women in New Castle County.

This endeavor would not have been a success without the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Marshals Office, the Delaware State Police, the Maryland State Police, the Wilmington Police Department, and the Delaware Department of Corrections Probation, and Parole.

(New Castle County, Del.) The nine (9) month investigation, called “Operation Smack Down,” began in August of 2014 and targeted the illegal drug trafficking and acts of violence led by Adrin Smack and a crew of other men within New Castle County.

On May 28, 2015 a series of search warrants were executed by the tactical teams of the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the New Castle County Police, the Delaware State Police and the Wilmington Police Department at homes located in New Castle County and the city of Wilmington.

As a result of the execution of the search warrants the following items were seized:
• 10,524 bags of heroin or approximately 157.86 grams
• 27.4 grams of marijuana
• 35.5 grams of cocaine
• $17,054 United States Currency
• 1-9mm handgun
• 1- .32 revolver
• Ammunition

This collaborative effort of officers from various law enforcement agencies as well as with the assistance of the Delaware Department of Justice resulted in over 400 counts of criminal indictments to include multiple tiers of drug distribution, weapons possession, possession of illegal drugs, conspiracy, and other related offenses.
